We are all the way we are because of our experience and the ways in which we were brought up or taught to believe. As we progress in our thinking and learning, we can take our experiences and use them constructively. For example, I suffer from manic depression, as they call it. As a result of having this affliction, I suffer in illogical ways. This is beyond my understanding and it is beyond the understanding of doctors. The only thing they can do is prescribe pills. But I can take my experience and apply that in real life by becoming a mentor to someone who also suffers. I can become a counselor, a writer, a musician, a brick layer... it does not matter. If I can be a good influence on one person a week or even a day, then I have found a valuable form of success. I think it works like that for all of us.

At some point in all our lives we all look for guidance of some kind coming from some source. This source could be God, it could be a family member, it could be a good friend, it could even be a stranger who tells us what we really needed to hear at that time. Sometimes, people get caught up in their particular type of guidance "figure." It could be a guru of some sort. It could be someone from their church like a pastor, it could be a motivational figure. It could be a variety of different actors in our society. When this happens, people change and sometimes this change can be harmful to both themselves and other people. They can close doors on people that were once good friends. They can shut out family members. They can quit even talking to those they don't really know; but does anyone really know anybody... truly?

There is a trend in The United States right now that can be viewed as frightening. It seems those who have an education don't seem to know as much about what they have studied as those who have never went to college. I suppose, in some cases, education comes with experience. Needless to say, opinions are and will remain that, opinions. In our society today, there is too much information from which to choose. This results in locking on to that which is familiar to you; such as a political or religious stance or television program and it means that you are probably getting your information from one source. This is one value of getting an education: always use as many sources as necessary to get the paper done right. Well, the same holds true with society. Now more than ever we need to read news from multiple sources and listen to those who have studied subjects that are pertinent to any given situation..

I used to get confused a lot when I was a kid. I always had to be doing something or I would just go nuts. Something was not normal inside me and everyone around me knew it. But there was no diagnosis for it. No medication. Nothing. Now that what I have has been discovered and there is medication, I still feel the sensation of being down all the time. I just can't shake this nasty feeling. I have begun to isolate myself and stay away from crowds. I have cut off friends I have known for years. The more I grow older, the worse it seems to get.

In today's political climate, truth is the enemy. It has become so bad that even when clear evidence, on tape, is presented to those who support Trump, it is of no real consequence. His constant lying about things he knows nothing about and the fact that he has control over the most powerful military the planet has ever seen should scare everybody.
