two and three

The Secondary Life is not something that comes over time through experience. It is not something we get from reading a good book; that requires an investment in time and energy. No, The Secondary Life is based in mult-media transmissions. Through television, movies, and the internet we find our minds traveling off to the ficticious distance. The immediacy of media influence does much more than entertain us and influence us to buy things. It takes us to the place where we walk among the stars in situations they portray. We make comparisons to the fiction and feel either better or worse as a result. Some of us prefer to feel worse than others dictated by the kinds of programming they prefer. In time, this type of preference overrides the primary life that is based in reality. LLc 98.2

Advertisements are the unreality that exists within the reality frame of our social world. The influence of advertising is vast and limitless.

the range

The Range

It is early morning and sunshine is in the forecast. I have nothing going on today except a long practice session on the range. I do not have to talk with anyone, I only need to stand there and swing the club and let the sun beat down on me. The only sounds I want to hear are the crispy shots that are whizzing off my clubface one after the other. Those sounds, the way it feels, is much better than anything else I can think of. LLc 98.2

face

To be conscious of change is to altar your ways of acting. This is no different than smiling when you're sad. LLc 98.2

to you

What is the social life? Who are the actors in the social life? Who do the actors represent in the social life? Do they speak for themselves, or do they speak on behalf of others? Is what people talk about relevant in the social life? Who is responsible for the social life? Who maintains the social life? What is socialization? Who are the primary sources of socialization; secondary sources? Do they speak on your behalf and you on theirs? Who speaks for you? LLc 98.2

stakes

It is not necessary to trace back to the advent of the printing press. The influence of the written word over time has been everything and immense. No matter what is being written about, the power of words is immeasurable. It is to that extent that I lay out a simple plan, one in which requires much less wording. Although stories are indeed nice, we have come to rely on them far too much. In the process we have forgotten how to live in the now. What follows is very brief, but what is on top and out front is the real deal. There is no decoration or symbolism here. If answers are what you seek, then here you will see a new road, one that shines brighter upon you. LLc 98.2

Something is truly beautiful when it is not part of the manufacturing process.
