They say i you want to be a writer, write about what you love, what you eel the most passionate about. This is good advice. The video here o Tom Watson chipping in at 17 in 1982 was an absolute calling to me. I had played every sport except soccer and water-polo with an emphasis irst on bowling (age 5), billiards (age 5), bike racing (age6-8,9), baseball (through to 1982). I was at my cousins house and he was a goler. I never had much to say about it. But on the television was this very shot as you see it here. I thought to mysel (age 12), there's no way he can make this shot. or some reason I watched it just as you see here. And I was absolutely loored. It was the most magniicent thing I had ever seen. I quit everything else and ocused on learning how to make a ball move with a gol club. To this day, I always carry with me the act that I was ortunate enough to do something that I really and truly loved. I actually was involved in doing something I loved with all o my heart. And that process began with this single, most impressive gol shot under any circumstances... but this was The United States Open Gol Championship and this was going to be his irst and only U.S. Open Championship. I met Tom Watson. The man is a true great, a one o a kind legend o the game.
